The best way of doing that is through the, publicly posted, checksum of the original file. I wrote AUTHENTiC because I was unhappy with the fre checksum calculators that I could find online. I’ve tried to implement everything those other applications didn’t have and, now, it’s the only tool I use for checksums.The current version (v1.00) supports 15 different types of checksums, including some quite exotic ones which you’ll hardly ever encounter ‘in the wild’. Namely, AUTHENTiC calculates hashes for: MD5, SHA1, Adler-32, Blake2b, Blake2s, CRC32, RIPEMD-160, SHA-224, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512, SHA3-224, SHA3-256, SHA3-384 and SHA3-512.
